Secondary ability now reads:
If Shrine is unexhausted, all troops defending your holdings gain +1 offense. _________________ J.T. Kauffman |

In order for a troop to be considered "defending your holdings", does it need to be assigned as a guard to a structure?
Or, if I assign a troop as a defender and send them to the battlefield during the Military phase, are they classified as 'defending holdings'? |

If another player or the wanderers have attacked you then any troops of yours that participate in battle are defending your holdings. So whether you send them out to the field for battle or they are guarding your structures doesn't matter, they still get the +1 bonus (or +2 if you have two Shrines that are unexhausted.)
