THE GLORY OF KALIM
Faction History
Born from the ancient worship of a goddess initially depicted as soft and passionate, the latest incarnation of Kalim is as likely to show her wielding a sword as cradling a baby. What once was referred to affectionately as the Love of Kalim has changed to the Glory of Kalim--to some historians that change was a slow migration of translations, a continual reworking of the holy texts until the current leaders of the church were able to justify aggressive military acts...and just in time for the Glory of Kalim to stand out as heroic in the Raging Rivers War. Others, more philosophical in nature, have determined that the goddess has grown tired of watching her children afflicted by the evils of the world, and having foreseen the continual rise of the Cult of Ti’ishara, gave vision to the changes taking place in her church. Whatever the reason, the Glory of Kalim has risen in favor among the general populace due to their recent actions.
As the armies massed, pressing steel upon steel for the advantage, rending flesh with their weapons, and spilling blood without any apparent remorse, the Glory of Kalim stood side by side with the Veteran’s Guild and the few Mosfin soldiers that were mustered. Their warrior priests and crusaders were a bolstering strength that helped keep the barbarian hordes at bay. Meanwhile, behind the alabaster walls of their temples the priests and priestesses cradled the frightened populace and called out to Kalim for mercy. It is only after the highest-ranking leaders of the church cast their voice to the heavens that the rains fell and the rivers flooded.
With the evident power of their goddess behind them, the Glory of Kalim has secured an alliance with House Bluefane, the support of the general public, and the role of protector of the realm. Yet, this hold isn’t enough for some within the church; these few who drive the Kalimite politics seek the throne--to turn the government into a theocracy and give Kalim ultimate power over all things divine and mundane.
Heraldry
The Heraldry of the Glory of Kalim is set upon a blue field, a symbol of truth. The wavy chevron on top of the blue field is a symbol for protection and water. Kalim's followers believe it was Her direct intervention which flooded the rivers and gave the city's exhausted troops time to regroup and make a final and very succesful stand against the invading armies of the recent Raging Rivers War.
Beneath the chevron a large eagle can be found with wings spread. The eagle is a symbol standing for action and also bears ties to judicious rights. Atop the chevron can be found a pair of sunbursts representing the glory and splendor of Kalim. The silver found in the chevron and the charges stands for Kalim's ultimate goal of peace.

Bishop Wil Caird
Born to a sailor and his wife, Wil grew up around ships and developed a love for the ocean. When his father was lost at sea, his mother could no longer afford to maintain their family. Wil was admitted to the ranks of the clergy at the local Temple of Kalim. There, he excelled in his devotions, though he never lost his love for the open water. In the Battle of the Red Sky, Wil served as a back-up defender for the temple and though he saw very little action, he was bloodied for the first time, and it was then that his anger first surfaced. Will served Kalim to the best of his abilities throughout the years, often following a more violent approach, especially where people took advantage of the weak, until the church decided to settle him down by putting him in charge of a temple and bestowing the title of bishop upon him. When the armies of Orvin the Cursed fell upon the city, Will turned the operation of his temple over to his second and joined the ranks of warriors on the front lines. Now that the threat has been taken care of he paces the halls of his temple like a caged bear, waiting for the next opportunity to
rise up and strike out for Kalim.
